Bell Lampshades
Natural white willow bell lampshades, bespoke commission 2020.
Commissioned by Hugo Burge for the common room at Creative Spaces, now the Hugo Burge foundation at Marchmont house.
Designed to enhance the space, complimenting the natural stone interior, furnishings and sculptural work, these bell lampshades emit a soft glowing light and echo the curvature of the room’s tower wall.
Teaching herself the weaving technique, Sarah explored both formal and more abstract versions of what is now known as the rope coil basketry technique. Deciding on a more subtle, organic version of this weave, Sarah then created these lampshades using Black Maul willow that she had removed the bark from herself on a 1930’s stripping machine.
These medium sized bell lampshades are available to commission through Sarah’s shop.
