Nourish Exhibition in Selvedge Magazine online – 22 July ’22
Lovely to see the forthcoming Nourish exhibition that I’m exhibiting work at featured in the Selvedge online blog https://www.selvedge.org/blogs/selvedge/nourish-at-the-craft-study-centre
Us 16 makers, all of whom create in willow are busy getting our exhibits ready. I will be showcasing a whole willow seated Arts & Crafts chair, that I’ve indigo dyed and natural white willow; one of my Nostle baskets, for the first time in indigo and white; and one of my willow and rush backpacks.
The exhibition at the Crafts Study Centre in Farnham, Surrey has now been extended to 9th August – 29th October ’22. Curated by Lois Walpole along with CSC organising curator Greta Bertram, I’m so looking forward to seeing all our pieces in situ.
This exhibition has been born out of us 16 makers taking part in the 2021 Basketmakers Professional Development Programme led by Cockpit Arts, funded by the Basketmakers Association and The Worshipful Company of Basketmakers.
I recently wrote the following about the Professional Development Programme and Nourish exhibition for a newsletter article,
“Along with the great practical advice, guidance and support, all of which I needed in order to firm up the vision for my business and bring it into reality, equally valuable, the development programme gifted me an amazing community of fellow makers. I remember writing on my application form that I hoped the programme would create really exciting opportunities for me to collaborate, gain more confidence, and for us all to together create a brighter, more resilient future for basketmaking in the UK. I do believe that this is what’s happening, with the Nourish exhibition being our crucial next step – how brilliant!”
