Having studied a similar exhibition piece, made for the Museum of Rural Life in Reading, I decided to challenge myself and create my own version using locally sourced Somerset willow.

Unlike most fitched baskets that are now made by basketmakers in the UK, I wanted to show that using only traditional English stake and strand techniques can still be used to great effect on more delicate looking baskets.
